Calling All Pilkington Customers

Posted by GTS - Mike Jones on Mar 4, 2009 10:22:01 PM

I need your help.  Many of you have requested that GTS add Pilkington to our software as an available wholesaler for electronic inquiries and ordering.  Interestingly, most of the requests come at us "tongue in cheek" assuming that GTS wouldn't be interested in that given our PPG/Pittsburgh Glass Works connection.  That couldn't be further from the truth.  Our stated mission is to help you achieve your goals for growth and profitability.  And we believe that utilizing technology to help you better manage your purchasing and quoting process to maximize margins is essential in today's marketplace.

So what's the problem?  Why isn't Pilkington available in GTS software?  We do offer PPG Auto Glass, Bartlestone, Old Dominon Glass, and will soon be announcing the addition of one of the largest independent distributors in the U.S.  So where is Pilkington?

I think the problem starts with me.  I have made repeated attempts to contact and invite Pilkington to connect to GTS software.  Unfortunately, I don't buy glass. That is where you come in.  I have a feeling that Pilkington will be much more interested in speaking with you and looking for ways to meet your needs.

If you are interested in adding Pilkington to the line-up of available wholesalers available for electronic ordering within GTS software, please tell your rep how important it is to you and that they should contact me to get things moving.

With any luck we could be up and running soon.  Thanks in advance for your help.

I am interested in finding a glass company that is interested in my staying in business.  By that I mean, they sell their product at a price I can make a profit, and deliver product in good condition.  Too many times we call about glass and it is no longer in inventory, but they can find it at a cost plus freight.  It seems like they think we have no overhead, and are making money hand over fist.  Cecile Mallard

Hi Mike,

We use Pilkington as a supplier as well as PPG.  I would love to be able to order from both through GTS. While you are at it, we also order from Mygrant.  Maybe they can be added also?

Thanks,

Jenn Vanasse

I never knew that option really worked.   I would love to be able to order my glass through GTS instead of having to back and forth to websites.

I have used this feature for a long time. It is a quick, easy way to check availability & pricing and place the actual order. I highly recommend using it. As for adding Pilkington, I have asked my sales rep and the warehouse manager on more than one occasion about the possibility and have always gotten the same answer.....No, because of the GTS / PGW connection. It is an inconvenience to log in to their website to shop and compare, so I hope they change their thinking soon.

Mar 10, 2009 11:58 AM Scott Gladish Scott Gladish    says in response to Nancy Longest:

YES PLEASE !!!!

We order from both and would love to not have to pick up the phone to order from Pilkington. (Mygrant also, please!)

We also have csv price files from both (they appear under the NAGS net price warning function in Glasspac) and it has saved us a ton of money to always know which supplier is cheaper for a part, but online ordering would be sweet.  I know we could always type that into the Pilkington website, but why not just quick link from the glasspac screen that has the parts already.

Quick Ordering through Glasspac would be a huge timesaver for us as well as for Pilkington (I would think).

Their reluctance might be a fear that you would share price data with the PGW Auto Glass affiliate company.

Jennifer - I will work on Mygrant.  Please encourage your Pilkington sales rep to speak with me and his or her management about enabling eOrdering from GTS software.  Thanks for the feedback.

Kelly - I will have one of our team members contact you to walk through eXpress eOrdering.  Thanks!

All - Thanks so much for the feedback.  I'm glad to hear several of you would find value in making this happen.  The more feedback you can provide to your Pilkington sales representative the better.  I am confident we can overcome any fear or reluctance they may have.  I really just need to have a conversation with them.  I will continue my attempts to make contact.  Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.  Again, thanks!
